Legal & Shipping Terms

Mail-In Repair Terms

These Mail-In Repair Terms apply when a customer sends a device or component to iFixAndFlip for an approved repair request. They explain shipping, packaging, inspection, approvals, payment, return shipping, transit claims, and other conditions that are specific to mail-in service.

Do not ship a device before your request is approved. Mail-in customers should first submit the device details and receive iFixAndFlip shipping instructions. Unapproved shipments may create delays and may not be accepted for service.

1. Scope & Related Terms

These Terms apply only to devices, components, assemblies, or other electronics sent to iFixAndFlip by courier, postal service, or another delivery method for an approved mail-in repair request.

Mail-in service is also subject to the Repair Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and applicable FAQ & Warranty provisions.

If a written repair-specific term conflicts with a general website statement, the repair-specific written agreement will apply to that repair to the extent permitted by law.

2. Approval Before Shipping

Customers should submit a repair request and wait for approval before shipping. Approval helps confirm that the device, model, fault, and requested service appear suitable for mail-in assessment.

Approval to ship is not a guarantee that the device can be repaired and is not a final diagnosis. The actual condition may only become clear after physical inspection.

Shipping instructions may include a private destination address, reference number, packaging instructions, or a shipping-label option. These instructions should be followed carefully.

3. Preparing the Device Before Shipping

Unless iFixAndFlip specifically requests otherwise, customers should:

  • Back up important data whenever reasonably possible.
  • Remove SIM cards and removable memory cards.
  • Remove protective cases and unrelated accessories.
  • Do not send chargers, cables, adapters, controllers, or other accessories unless requested.
  • Record the device model and, where appropriate, serial number or IMEI for your own records.
  • Take clear photos of the device and its condition before packing.
  • Take clear photos of the completed packaging before shipment.

Customers should disable device-tracking or account locks only when iFixAndFlip specifically requests this for the approved service. Do not send Apple ID, Google, email, banking, social-media, or other unrelated account passwords.

Devices with severely swollen, leaking, punctured, burned, overheated, or otherwise visibly hazardous batteries may be subject to carrier restrictions and should not be shipped until appropriate carrier and repair instructions have been confirmed.

4. Packaging Requirements

The customer is responsible for packaging the device in a manner reasonably suitable for normal transportation and consistent with the selected carrier’s requirements.

Good packaging generally includes:

  • A strong outer shipping box in suitable condition.
  • Enough protective material to prevent the device from moving inside the box.
  • Protection around screens, glass surfaces, corners, ports, and other vulnerable areas.
  • Separate protection for multiple devices or components so they cannot strike each other.
  • Secure sealing of the outer package.

Thin envelopes, loose devices inside boxes, or packaging that allows the product to move freely may increase the risk of transit damage and may affect a carrier claim.

5. Shipping the Device to iFixAndFlip

Shipping method, shipping cost, declared value, tracking, signature service, and transportation coverage depend on the option selected for the shipment.

If the customer arranges shipping

The customer chooses the carrier and shipping service and is responsible for selecting any desired declared value, transportation coverage, signature option, or other carrier service.

If iFixAndFlip provides or purchases a label

The shipment remains subject to the carrier’s terms, service limits, exclusions, declared-value rules, and claim requirements. If iFixAndFlip is the shipper of record, a carrier claim may need to be submitted or coordinated through iFixAndFlip.

The cost of an iFixAndFlip-provided shipping label may be charged to the customer where disclosed as part of the mail-in arrangement.

6. Transit Loss, Damage & Carrier Claims

iFixAndFlip does not control a carrier’s transportation network and cannot guarantee that a shipment will arrive without delay, loss, theft, or damage.

Responsibility for a transit loss or damage claim depends on the carrier used, who purchased the shipment, the selected service, any declared value or coverage, the packaging, the carrier’s terms, the available evidence, and applicable law.

Customers should retain shipment receipts, tracking information, device-condition photos, and packaging photos until the repair and return shipment are completed.

If a package arrives with visible external damage, iFixAndFlip may photograph or document the condition before or during opening and may notify the customer.

Carrier compensation may be limited by the carrier’s terms or the coverage purchased. A declared device value is not automatically the same as guaranteed carrier compensation.

7. Arrival, Intake & Physical Inspection

After delivery, iFixAndFlip will process the package as reasonably practical. Courier tracking that shows “delivered” does not necessarily mean the device has already completed intake, diagnosis, or repair assessment.

The device may be inspected for physical condition, model information, obvious damage, prior repair, missing parts, corrosion, and the reported fault.

If the received condition materially differs from the customer’s description or the pre-shipping information, iFixAndFlip may pause the service and contact the customer.

8. Diagnosis, Estimate & Customer Approval

Standard diagnosis is currently provided without a diagnostic labour fee. A preliminary online discussion or quote does not replace physical diagnosis where the actual fault cannot be confirmed remotely.

If the diagnosis confirms the expected repair, iFixAndFlip may proceed within the scope and price already approved.

If inspection identifies additional damage, a different fault, a material price change, or an additional chargeable repair, iFixAndFlip will request approval before intentionally proceeding with that additional paid work.

Current service principle: no successful repair, no labour fee. Approved special-order parts, donor devices, outbound or return shipping, and other disclosed non-recoverable costs may still be payable.

9. Special-Order Parts & Donor Devices

A mail-in repair may require a model-specific component, donor board, donor device, housing, display, or other special-order item.

Before iFixAndFlip orders or commits to a non-recoverable item, the relevant cost will be disclosed and the customer will be asked to approve it.

Once approved and ordered or committed to the repair, the approved special-order cost remains payable even if the repair attempt is unsuccessful, unless iFixAndFlip agrees otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise.

10. Device Passcodes, Testing & Customer Data

A device passcode or PIN is optional. If a passcode is not provided, functions that cannot reasonably be accessed may be recorded as “Not Tested – Passcode Unavailable” or similar.

If a passcode is provided, it is used only as reasonably necessary for authorized diagnosis and functional testing. Routine repair does not require unrelated account passwords.

Customers should back up important data whenever possible. If a proposed procedure is reasonably expected to intentionally erase data, iFixAndFlip will request separate authorization before performing that data-erasing step.

Additional details are provided in the Repair Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

11. Payment Before Return

Unless otherwise stated, repair prices are quoted before applicable HST.

The final approved repair balance, approved special-order costs, applicable tax, and applicable return-shipping charges must normally be paid before the device is released to the return carrier.

iFixAndFlip will not normally return-ship a device while agreed amounts remain unpaid.

12. Return Shipping

Return shipping is normally the customer’s responsibility unless iFixAndFlip expressly agrees to waive or cover it for a particular repair or dealer arrangement.

iFixAndFlip may provide available carrier/service options and shipping costs. The customer may be asked to approve the return-shipping option before dispatch.

Return shipments are subject to the selected carrier’s terms, delivery standards, coverage limits, exclusions, and claim procedures.

A tracking number may be provided once available. Estimated carrier delivery dates are not guaranteed by iFixAndFlip.

13. Declined, Unsuccessful or No-Fix Mail-In Repairs

If the customer declines the repair after diagnosis, or if iFixAndFlip is unable to successfully complete the approved repair, no labour fee is normally charged for that unsuccessful repair under the current no-labour-fee policy.

The customer remains responsible for approved special-order/non-recoverable costs and for applicable return shipping.

Unless another lawful arrangement is made, the device will be returned after required amounts have been paid and return shipping has been arranged.

14. Unclaimed Mail-In Devices

Customers should respond to repair approvals, payment requests, and return-shipping communications within a reasonable period.

iFixAndFlip does not currently charge a routine storage fee and does not treat a device as automatically abandoned merely because a short period has passed.

Where lawful approved charges remain unpaid, iFixAndFlip may retain possession of the device to the extent permitted by applicable Ontario law. Any lien, sale, retention, or other disposition will be handled only in accordance with applicable law and required notice procedures.

15. Warranty Claims Requiring Shipping

Eligible repairs are subject to the 90-Day Limited Warranty.

A warranty concern must be reported within the applicable warranty period and the device must be made available for inspection before coverage can be approved.

Shipping responsibility for a warranty inspection may depend on the circumstances, the inspection result, and the written arrangement made for that claim. iFixAndFlip may choose to provide or reimburse shipping in an approved covered case but does not promise free shipping for every submitted warranty claim.

16. Privacy & Shipping Information

Mail-in service may require customer name, phone number, email address, return address, postal code, device information, tracking details, shipping label information, and repair communications.

This information is used for repair administration, shipping, payment, communication, warranty, fraud prevention, and related service purposes as described in the Privacy Policy.

Shipping carriers and shipping-management providers receive the information reasonably necessary to transport and deliver the shipment.

17. Repair Limitations & Customer Rights

Mail-in repair involves customer-owned electronics whose complete condition may not be known until physical inspection or disassembly. iFixAndFlip does not guarantee that every submitted device can be repaired.

Nothing in these Mail-In Terms is intended to waive, exclude, or limit a right, remedy, warranty, or liability that cannot lawfully be waived or excluded under applicable consumer-protection or other law.

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in Ontario, Canada, subject to mandatory consumer rights and jurisdictional rules that may apply.
